I'm a music teacher and have to say, I was very disappointed with the overall quality and sound of this instrument. There were wood shavings inside the instrument and visible globs of glue on the pegs. Sound quality is very tinny. I'm hoping new strings will alleviate this problem. I've bought better quality beginner instruments from the flea market where I spent considerably less.

First change the strings to D'ddario Zyex this will bring out the character of this violin. I have performed with this violin in concert with an authentic Cremona Stradivari worth a fortune at first chair. At second chair this instrument brought many favorable reviews, it was assumed that I had brought another exquisit old name violin as I brought it in a case which was nearly 100 years old and used a chin rest and tailpiece of ebony. Use a decent pernambuco bow with mongolian hair, don't skimp on rosin; I recommend Kaplan Premium Light. This is a finely crafted instrument, properly fitted out with a shoulder rest it is a delight to play. The tonal qualities are perfect. I use this violin often instead of borrowing an old "name" instrument. It travels well, and holds it's tuning, when tuned scordatura for Danse Macabre, it out performs instruments costing a king's ransom. In short,this is a fine example of the Luthier's art.

I decided to go for a Strunal as my first violin. Since this is my first, I had my instructor take a look at the violin. Here's what she has to say: "The finish is great. The fingerboard is good." She was really amazed as to how the tuning pegs hold the strings.

Based on my own opinion, I liked the overall finish of the violin. It's very easy to tune because of the grip of the tuning pegs and the fine tuners make it much more easier to tune. The only complaint I have is the chin rest that came with it. It is not a huge problem because the chin rest is the easiest to change.

if you're just starting to play the violin, think of getting one of these. the tone is nice and it is well-priced for a well-made violin

This Violin is a good instrument for beginner's that are not wanting to spend to much money but want some quality as well.
