After two years of playing with a regular metal ligature my new conductor recommend a Rover leather/cloth ligature. I picked one up with a recommended mouth piece at a local music store. I never went back to the metal one. I absolutely love this ligature. It provides warmer tone because of the even pressure applied to the whole reed as opposed to the two screw design of a regular metal ligature. Not to mention it doesn't bend out of shape, and with the joining of marching band I can avoid getting a metal ligature mashed flat. This ligature is a must for all players.

I got this ligature along with a Selmer S80 mouthpiece for my alto sax. This ligature has a much darker sound than the Light ligatures but "beefier" than the Dark. It's the perfect sound for me. You can cock the ligature forward or backward to get more sounds (I tilt mine forward. You can even flip the screw to the other side and use it upside down which gives a brighter sound. The ligature has held up great. No wear to be seen or felt. It takes a few days to get it used to your mouthpiece and have it forms itself to it but once it is there, it won't let you down. The only downside is it is a bit expensive, however, it is completely worth it.
