I was initially disappointed with my Meyer G Series mouthpiece because it played very much like my regular Meyer (bright and buzzy). The baffle of the G Series has a slightly wider taper at the tip and the side rails are fatter (i.e. more elliptical) than the regular Meyer — which makes it a very comfortable mouthpiece, but for a mouthpiece that’s supposed to have “vintage” qualities, I didn’t notice much of a difference.

I filed the facing (tip opening @ ~2.5 mm and lay @ ~23 mm) to match the dimensions of my Morgan HR and…oh, what a difference. The mouthpiece became much more open, responsive in the lower register and had greatly improved subtones — qualities that I associate with “vintage” mouthpieces. With a little customized filing, this has become one of my favorite mouthpieces.
