I've had this saxophone for about 9 months and couldn't be happier with it. Unfortunately, the first one I received had a rod broken off at the joint to the body. I imagine an instrument costing twice or more wouldn't have such a defect. Musician's Friend was really quick about the return process, so no hard feelings there. Nine months later, with decent practice, I've replaced the stock mouthpiece with a Jody Jazz HR and consider it a great improvement. Like other reviews mention, the low notes don't punch or flow well with the stock mouthpiece, but at least it included one for beginners like me. I've played guitar for about 7 years, so I have some sense for writing music and achieving specific tones for the given style. This horn will not let you down if you plan on just playing around the house, but a gigging musician should consider a higher end one with a more durable case.

I've been playing in a church band for about 20 years, my wife bought me this sax in March of 2009. After seeing the sax and getting the feel of it I thought it was gonna be an "OK" sax. after playing it and finding the right mouthpiece (berg larsen 100/0 m, I actually fell in love with it. I'd put it up against any other high end sax. Excellent saxophone....

Well, my mom bought this for me back in 2004. I've had the same sax since I was in 6th grade, and i'm almost a senior now.

I did have a little problem with the sax though. Some screws keep getting loose and it really is hard for me to blow. I can't seem to get a bigger sound out of it, no matter how much air I put through it. I've had 6 years of experience with it - I KNOW how to play sax. I've tried blowing on other saxes, and they work just fine.

That's probably the only issue with mine. And - I can't play any notes lower than a low C. When I push the right buttons down, it makes a weird sound like... I can't explain it.

Anyway, it's a good sax.

A couple of screws went loose and the rods go out of place. I don't know what's wrong but I've already put it in a shop. When blowing, it takes too much air as well. I guess it could be me... I DO have a friend that owns a Kohlert and seems to be happy with his.

A Great Horn For All Levels

I have owned this tenor for a few weeks and have practiced with it and used it in a jam session with friends. I am extremely pleased (and suprised) with the construction, quality of mechanism, and intonation of this instrument. My friends also say it is a sweet-sounding horn. I didn't like the mouthpiece, but found one that is a good fit. This is so easy to blow and fun to play. I have owned some pretty nice tenors in the past (Conn 10m Naked Lady model, Leblanc Rationale, and Yamaha YS23) and this one holds its own with any of them. This is the second Asian-built horn I have purchased and I must say I wouldn't give up either one.

The case is well-built and fits the horn well - perhaps one of the nicer cases I have seen.
