Not bad for the price

I took a chance after reading the other reviews and got one anyway (I knew I could return it if I didn't like it). Many plastic parts, but not entirely plastic. The body and neck are solid wood (which is probably where the weight comes from). I like the fact that I can use my regular shoulder rest (which is adjusted to MY body), and that the ghost of the upper bout is there for upper position reference. Great set-up for a plastic fingerboard - very easy to play. Useable volume with no amplification for "silent" practice. Unlike the one of the other reviewers, I experienced no hiss (may be a poorly grounded cable, or CD input gain turned up too high?). Overall, lots of fun, especially when run through the cheap guitar FX pedal my son uses.

Performance well beyond its price level overall. Not a Yamaha, but affordable for my uses.

The WHOLE THING is plastic--everything from the scroll to the neck, to the fingerboard. The only bits that aren't plastic are the strings, and various odds and bobs involved in the electronics. The one I received had a crack in the heel. This should be sold in the toy department for a small fraction of the price. It is much more fragile than an acoustic violin. For this money, you should be able to get something better.

I received my Bellafina SSE 5 string electric today, and it's going back tomorrow. Mine was a "scratch n dent", and has a large crack at the heel. Almost the entire instrument is PLASTIC. It seems much more fragile than an acoustic violin.

It has a volume control, but no tone control.

On the upside, it sounds good, and came fitted with 5 fine-tuners.
